UPDATE: Feb 16, 2010

Due to change of script, mobile users with less than 500 posts will not be able to use their built-in browser or opera mini for posting. Try to gain 500 posts using bolt browser or a computer and after that, you can post again using other browsers. I am still looking for a solution to that, so check out for another update...

Opera mini 2.06 can't support the new script so switch to version 4.2 or 5 final.

Getting started...

Here are the tips that can help you to maximize your earnings in mylot:

1. Post quality content, it can help you earn more and it helps you get positive ratings. Take note that one-line or short posts will not be paid.
2. Before posting a discussion, use the search box on the top to see if the topic you want to post already exists. If the results appeared closely to what you are going to post, then do not post it or else, it will get deleted soon due to violation (read the FAQ for more info).
3. As a discussion starter, it is a responsibility to look back on your topic to see if someone responded on you then post a comment on it and when they comment back, reply again and the cycle continues and it is called barging, it can help you to earn more, just remember tip #1. This makes a discussion interesting and many users will respond on it.
4. As a responder, also try to look back on discussions you have replied and try to barge, also try to post comments on other responses and do the same when they reply (similar to #3).
5. When you reached your 100th post, you will get a star next to your username and it represents your rating. It is on a scale of 0 to 10 with 10 as the highest. When you point the cursor in it, you will see 'mylot reputation of x/100' will appear and it is the ratio of positive and negative ratings. Your ratings affect your participation earnings so try to increase it by following these tips in the list.
6. Use the DRS (Discussion Rating System) properly. When a post is of good quality, rate it positive. When it is bad, rate it negative and when it is abusive, report it by clicking on the (!) button next to the negative (-) button. When a user gives negative rating even when a post is of good quality, the rating of the user who do it will also be affected.
7. You can also earn by uploading images on the interest group. Make sure that it is useful and not abusive. When you reached your 500th post, you can now add an image to your discussion, response, or comment and it also helps to earn more.
8. Try to do tasks, it really helps to earn more just by following directions.
9. Gain more friends. It can't help you earn directly but it can help you get more responses on the discussions you post. You can also learn information from them.
10. Get some referrals. Make a strategy to advertise to make people join under you. Also try to encourage your referrals to be active and to participate on discussions or upload pictures so you can earn from them.
11. Know the guidelines. You can avoid your posts getting deleted if you know all or some of the rules.
12. Just have fun to avoid getting stressed out. It can help you do more when you enjoy what you are doing.
13. Add as many interest groups as you can.
14. When you can't find an interesting discussion, try to dig on old ones, there are some topics there that might catch your attention.

Don'ts

These are the things a user must not do in discussions to avoid deletion and deduction of earnings:
1. Discussions about earnings- asking for user's earnings or similar to that is not allowed
2. Posting racist topics
3. Promoting affiliate programs- you can promote your affiliate links in your profile or through private messaging but not in discussions.
4. Discussions in other languages- use English only.
5. Posting nonsense topics- discussions without substance will be deleted.

Questions answered...

These are the questions usually asked by some users.

Q: Why did my post count reduced?
A: It is because some of your posts got deleted. Maybe the discussion you responded had violated the rules. When a discussion is deleted, the responses are also deleted. The amount you earned for your deleted post will be deducted to your total earnings.
Q: Someone posted a link on his response to my discussion, is my discussion subject to deletion?
A: Well, it depends, since the response has a violation, only the response will be deleted unless, your discussion also violated the rules.
Q: How much can I earn per post and how many posts it take to reach payout?
A: Well, since there is no exact amount per post here, the amount and the number of posts to reach payout is undefined. Try to put quality on your posts and remember the tips above to help you earn more.
Q: I posted on a discussion about politics/religion and my reputation got decreased, why?
A: Nice question, so if you want to avoid getting negative ratings, you may avoid such kind of discussions. All of us have different opinions or beliefs so expect that when you respond on those kind of topics, there are others who disagree to you, and they might give you that negative rating. According to FAQ, even you do not agree with the post and it contributes well to the discussion, still rate it positive. But there are some that do not practice that.
Q: Why I can't view some discussions and it says about mature content?
A: The system can recognize some discusions as mature content due to some words. If you want to view that, change your preference to allow mature content.
Q: How can I delete my discussion?
A: You can't delete your own discussion. The reported discussions are subject to deletion. So if you really want to get it deleted, you can ask your friend to report it so it will be deleted.
Q: How can I get more responses to my discussion?
A: Just make your discussion interesting. Think of a nice title that can catch attention. Keep on replying when someone contributed to your discussion, it can attract more responses when they see that you keep the discussion active and looks like a long thread of ideas flowing around the topic.
Q: I had been inactive for more than 3 months and my earnings go back to zero, why?
A: According to the guidelines, if a user was inactive for 90 days, the earnings will be lost. It is suggested at least to log in within the said period to maintain the accumulated earnings. There is no need to post just, just log in so the system will recognize that you are not idle.
Q: How to edit my post?
A: Well, you can't edit your response, comment, or discussion once you clicked on the 'post' button. Before you post it, make sure that it is final. You can use the preview function to see your post and there you can edit it before submitting.
Q: I want to invite some members of my family to join, but we have only one computer, is it allowed?
A: Yes, it is allowed to share the same computer, make sure to put a check on the box labeled 'public computer' when logging in so the session will not be locked.
Q: I didn't reached the minimum payout amount for the month, what will happen to my accumulated earnings?
A: It will be carried over for the next month so don't worry because it will not disappear as long as you are active. Once you reach the minimum amount, it will be transferred automatically to your paypal account within the first 15 days of the next month.
Q: I want to get my earnings into cash, what should I do?
A: First, your paypal account must be verified in order to withdraw your earnings. You should link a debit card in order to get verified.
For a complete procedure about that, click here to learn more about verifying your paypal account or click here to view details about earning online.

Then, click the 'new discussion' on the top or 'start a new discussion' on the upper right corner on the homepage of any interest group. Make sure that you post your discussion on the appropriate interest group. Responding and commenting- just simply click the respond button or 'add comment'. Tagging- it helps to organize the discussions. Make sure to put a useful tag and do not put abusive tags. Maximum of 5 tags are shown. If you can't think of something to add as a tag or there are already 5 tags, better skip on it after posting. Uploading images- simply click 'upload photo' found on any interest group. Then, fill out the required fields. Make sure that it is uploaded on the corresponding interest. You can also put images on your posts when you have at least 500 posts. Using the DRS- there are three buttons found on the right side of any response, discussion or comment. These are the positive (+), negative (-), and report abuse (!) buttons. You can see it on any post except on your own, means that you can't rate yourself. Make sure to use it properly (tip #6). If you don't know how to rate, better leave it as neutral. Best response- as a discussion starter, you can pick a response that you want. If you find the response to be useful, you can mark it by clicking on 'mark best response' near the username. After that, a pencil icon appears to indicate best response. Once you had selected your discussion, you can't change it. Don't give it quickly, wait for a week to select one. As a responder, when you receive a best response, your earnings will increase by a little so try your best so you have the chance of getting them so you earn more. Preferences- you will see there some settings for your account. Under the preferences are: Customize your profile- change avatar, slogan, put the url of your website. Account information- these are the basic account setting such as change email and password, it also includes the check box if you want to allow mature content. Payment information- some details such as location, paypal email and the dropdown menu to select the minimum payout. Notifications- you can check or uncheck if you want to receive email notifications. In default, all notifications are turned on. User profiles- includes the activities of the user, his/her friends, the best responses, discussions started, the list of his/her interests, interest rankings, comments from friends, and the 'add as a friend' or 'send message' button. You can also put some of your referral links only in your profile, but don't put it on discussions. Sending messages- you can only send a message to your friends. If you want to send a message, make sure that he/she is already your friend. If not, send a friend request first. Things you should know... 1. You can't edit or delete your post once you click on the 'post' button so before posting, make sure that it is final. Preview function can be used to see your post. 2. At a certain number of posts, you will have the following: a. Stars- a star on the username represents the reputation of the user and it is also a factor for calculating participation earnings. Can be obtained by having at least 100 posts. b. Use of smileys/mylot code- when a user has at least 200 posts, he/she can add smileys on posts, maximum of 3 per post. c. 500 posts- now, a user can use pasting function and can add an image to posts. Pasting is useful when making a backup of your posts so there is no need to retype it when problems occured at your browser. Adding images to post can also help to increase earnings. 3. Tasks have a particular date of review, usually after it's expiration, it may take hours or some may take weeks so be patient while waiting. A message will be sent to you including the result of your task. Reward will be added to earnings once it got approved. If it is returned, thd reason was on the message, do the necessary corrections and submit again. 4. Participation earnings are not updated immediately. Usually, it takes up to 48 hours. It means that not all of your participation within a particular day will be paid on the same day so wait for another day. In addition to that, as stated on the earnings section, participation earnings are estimated and subject to changes until payments are made so it may increase when you have lots of quality posts or decrease by a bit when some of your posts got deleted due to violation. 6. When you reach the minimum amount to qualify payout within a particular month, it will be automatically transferred to your paypal account on or before the 15th day of the next month. If you did not reach payout within a month, it will be carried over for the next month. What makes a quality post? The quality of a post depends on its substance and length. A long response/comment which is relevant to the topic and contributed well to the discussion will be paid by a good amount. Some new users post lots of nonsense discussions a day and they end up with quitting. It is because they didn't earned well with that activity because of their belief that they can earn only from posting discussions and there is a fixed amount per post so they try to post a lot no matter how short. If you see users doing that, help them by teaching the proper way of earning. (images will be displayed soon...)
